English is widely spoken in India, yet many learners—students and professionals alike—struggle with recurring grammar mistakes. Most of these errors happen due to direct translation from Indian languages and long-standing usage habits. Awareness is the first step to correction.

One common mistake is using “he” or “she” for objects, which should always take it. Another frequent error is incorrect tense usage, such as saying “I am knowing him” instead of “I have known him.” Learners also confuse “since” and “for”, especially while talking about time duration.

Phrases like “discuss about” or “married with” are grammatically incorrect but widely used. Similarly, words like information, furniture, and advice are uncountable, yet many learners treat them as plurals. Question formation is another weak area—“What you are doing?” should be “What are you doing?”

A uniquely Indian usage is “passed out” to mean graduation, while in standard English it means losing consciousness.

These mistakes don’t reflect poor intelligence—only habits. With focused practice, feedback, and exposure to correct English, learners can fix them quickly. Clear, accurate English builds confidence and credibility in academics, exams like IELTS, and professional life.

I wish you all the best for your English fluency journey!
